Basically, a ferrofluid is a magnetic liquid. It's really awesome to watch. I found a place where you can buy it here, toward the bottom of the page, for about $0.75 per ml.

Whoa, that is weird! I thought the black stuff (the liquid) looked almost animated at first... I wonder if it's really for real...? But then again, why not? Magnetic solid particles act that way, why not "liquid"?
